The Jackson Zoo is located in Jackson, Mississippi. The Jackson Zoo has attracted people from across the state and beyond for more than 90 years. The zoo boasts an animal collection representing over 200 species and nearly 380 individual animals that provide glimpses of native wildlife from around the world.The Jackson Zoo is situated within the historic 110-acre (0.45 km2) Livingston Park and welcomes approximately 112,000 visitors annually from Mississippi and surrounding states. 20,000 school children make their way to the zoo throughout the school year.Guests can also enjoy fare from the Elephant House Cafe, purchase keepsake merchandise from the Jackson Zoo Trading Company. Picnics are permitted in Livingston Park and rides are available on the Endangered Species Carousel or the train. A Splash Pad is open in the summer.

Mississippi Coliseum Mississippi Coliseum

The Mississippi Coliseum is a 6,500-seat multipurpose arena in Jackson, Mississippi, built in 1962 and located on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds complex. The arena has 6,812 seats available for basketball, and can be expanded to 10,000 for concerts. It sits 2900 feet atop the extinct Jackson Volcano.In addition to the Coliseum, the Mississippi State Fairgrounds includes: The Mississippi Trade Mart, the A & I agricultural complex and the Kirk Fordice Equine Center.It was home to the Jackson Bandits minor league ice hockey team from 1999-2003.The Fairgrounds hosts the Mississippi State Fair each October. Each February, the Mississippi Coliseum and surrounding complex host The Dixie National Rodeo, which is the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi River.

The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Jackson, Mississippi. The hall of fame was established in 1961 and is currently located in a museum that displays the achievements of Mississippi athletes. The museum opened on July 4, 1996.It is opposite the Smith-Wills Stadium, home of the Central League's Jackson Senators minor-league baseball team.Among the exhibits in the museum are the "Dizzy Dean Museum", the "Viking Classic Exhibit", which gives the history of Mississippi's PGA golf tournament, and the "Wendy's High School Gallery", which recognizes the Wendy's High School Heisman winners from Mississippi, as well as past and current state champions.

Smith-Wills Stadium Smith-Wills Stadium

Smith–Wills Stadium is a 5,200 seat baseball stadium in Jackson, Mississippi. It is located on Lakeland Drive, less than half a mile east of Interstate 55, in the northeastern part of the city.The stadium was built atop a landfill in a move by Jackson administration to lure in a Professional Minor League baseball team. It opened in 1975. Over the years, it has hosted professional baseball as well as musical concerts. In 1999, the stadium hosted its final affiliated professional baseball game, and in 2005 its final professional game. With the addition of FieldTurf artificial turf, Smith–Wills was converted into a true multipurpose facility, able to host a variety of sports and events including football and soccer. Smith–Wills is still used as a venue for MHSAA football events for Jackson Public School District high schools.
